Counting Coils - Extension

The production method for counting active coils is illustrated below:

1. Hold the spring in front of you with the hook opening closest to you down so that the hook is straight up and down.

2. Begin counting the coils designating coil #1 as the first coil past the hook.

3. Count along the body until the last coil at the far end is reached.

4. Depending on the end position add 1 for hooks inline, 1/2 for hooks inline opposite, 3/4 for hooks at 3 o'clock and 1/4 for hooks at 9 o'clock.
